Beer and Bubs: learn how to be the best support partner you can be!

beer and bubsBeer and Bubs is a one-night workshop at the pub where dads can learn how to support their partner through the birth of their baby.

It helps men gain the practical knowledge they need to be involved in the births of their children in a positive way. And most men would rather head to the pub anyway.

Beer and Bubs is perfect for first time fathers who don't know what they're in for as well as those going back for a second or third round who weren't well prepared the first time. It's ideal for expectant dads who have soldiered through the antenatal classes, bored to snores but have come out the other end with little practical understanding of their role in childbirth or dads who just don't have time to do weeks of antenatal classes.

"I learned more in two hours at this workshop than I did in seven weeks of hospital antenatal classes." Doug

Pregnancy is ALL about the woman and what she is going through in the lead up to the birth, but this workshop is all about YOU, the dad, and your role in childbirth. And your job as childbirth support person is more important than you think.

What should you never say to a woman in labour? How can you actively help with pain relief in childbirth? How do you go in to bat for your partner if things get ugly with the midwife? Why shouldn't you be texting your mother while you're on the job? What can you do to make childbirth faster and easier for your partner?

All this and more is covered in this fast-paced info session where the beer flows freely and the atmosphere is informal and conversational. You will also meet a dad who delivered his own baby and have time over dinner to chat with him and his wife, a professional childbirth support partner, as well as a bunch of other dads in the same boat as you.

Beer and Bubs is now only the Toxteth Hotel in Glebe. Just the best pub in Sydney.

Though the content of these workshops is designed for dads, expectant mothers may also attend and there are usually at least one or two mums at each workshop.

Use the menu on the top left of this page to find out more about the workshop or to make a booking. Cheers!
