An independent review conducted by a panel of respected Australian Naturopaths has revealed that some of Australia’s leading prenatal and pregnancy vitamin supplements lack essential nutrients that are vital to mother and developing baby.

Most women are aware of the benefits that prenatal and pregnancy vitamins can bring for mother and child~. However, a recent independent review conducted by a panel of Australian Naturopaths has shown that some of Australia’s leading^ prenatal and pregnancy vitamin formulas could be significantly improved.
Review panellist and Naturopath Eliza Finn of CBD Natural Health commented that “It appears that some leading Australian over-the-counter products misleadingly lack the quality and variety of vital ingredients necessary for optimal nutritional support for mother and developing baby. While most products contain high amounts of folate well known to be necessary during pregnancy, they often leave out important, synergistic and essential nutrients needed such as other B-group vitamins, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Calcium, Zinc and Omega-3 fatty acids that are also important during this time. ”
The results of the review have been published on Australian vitamin information website HealthyComaprisons.com.au. Website Director Kristy Lee added “There are some fantastic products on the market, however it’s important to note that not all products offer the rainbow and dosages of ingredients necessary to support their intended benefit. Expecting mothers should always research products well or consult a health professional before making purchases that affect mother and baby’s health.”
“HealthyComparisons.com.au not only provides important information about vitamins for expecting mothers, but provides product comparisons and reviews for 33 different health categories including Arthritis, Multivitamins, Menopause, PMS and even Weight Loss.”
“Whilst the vitamin information and reviews do not replace the personal advice of a qualified health professional, they go some way towards ensuring that there is independent information available for Australian consumers”.

One of the great joys in pregnancy is decorating the nursery for the arrival of your new baby. Options for your newborns nursery are endless from wall murals to floor rugs and everything in between. The costs for your new nursery can also become endless.
Parents have moved away from just painting there children’s bedroom in traditional pastel colours with “Winny the Poo” stickers and are seeking to immerse there children in a warm and stimulating environment. The Melbourne Herald Sun Newspaper recently published an article highlighting that some parents are spending up to $30,000 on designer bedrooms with decorating becoming as complex as to included painted walls and designer furniture and accessories.
Not everyone can afford to spend thousands of dollars on a new nursery and there is no reason why the baby’s room needs to cost you a fortune. So the question is “How do parents achieve a beautiful nursery for there newborn whilst on a tight budget.”Children’s bedroom walls can be lifted with a beautiful bold colour on a feature wall and choosing simple inexpensive accessories such as a lamp shades, door knobs and growth chart to match in your chosen theme. Coloured throw rugs are also an inexpensive and a great way to change the look of a room and also can cover tired carpet. You can even cut out some pictures from children’s books to frame and place on the wall. For the budget conscious parent who wanted to create a “themed” environment for their child, Australian Based Company - Murals 4 Kids is leading the way to create an inexpensive room transformation. M4K has developed a number of beautiful timber wall murals themes that are not only interactive but designed to last children for many years.
The murals can be purchased as whole sets or individual pieces that will transform your children’s nursery into an African Adventure land, Farm Yard, Beach Side or even a Pirates Paradise. Each piece is constructed from lightweight timber which easily adheres to wall. They are perfect for those renting who still want that special room for their little one. For those moving, the murals are easily removable and transferable to your new home.
Owner of Murals 4 Kids, Jeanita Pearson said “They are designed to last many years and capture children’s imaginations. Children can safely playing with many items such as fish and butterflies. We started our business in February and have been supplying our products to private homes, childcare and play centers around the world. Both children and parents love our products. We have been shipping our products around the world”.

National Premature Birth
Awareness Week
24th - 30th November 2007
National Premature Birth Awareness Week*
Austprem Inc. is a registered non-profit organisation that began in 2000 when a group of parents formed a support group specifically for Australian parents of premature infants and children.
Today there are over 700 members of Austprem Inc., and our website gets around 1000 hits per month. This success story has been achieved through the vision and hard work of dedicated parents who aspire to help other parents through the prem experience.
As a response to the alarming rise in premature births within Australia over the last 10 years, Austprem Inc. has developed the BORN EARLY Campaign. The aim of this Campaign is to reduce the number of premature births through raising awareness and supporting research.
As a part of this Campaign, Austprem Inc. together with Earlybirds, is holding the inaugural National Premature Birth Awareness Week from 24 – 30 November 2007. There are two main foci to the Week. One is a celebration of those babies who have been born early; the other is to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms that may lead to premature birth.
Austprem Inc. has developed a new brochure “Pregnant? It’s probably nothing but it might be something.” The brochure contains a summary of the indications that may lead to premature birth and encourages women to check with their doctor, hospital or health care provider if they are at all concerned. This Campaign is of relevance to EVERY pregnant woman and we hope that you will support this worthwhile initiative. Brochures and more information are available at the website www.bornearly.org.au, or contact info@bornearly.org.au.
The BORN EARLY website http://www.bornearly.org.au, in particular http://www.bornearly.org.au/npbaw, details some event ideas that you or your customers/clients/members or staff could organise for your school or workplace, with your mothers’ group, the “kinder parents”, or with friends and family.
Posters are available for you to print out and display to promote the Week, or to encourage people to attend your event. Banners are also available to download to promote the week at the website. There is also a range of merchandise available for purchase through our online shop, with more to be added shortly.
Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
We hope that you will support National Premature Birth Awareness Week, by advertising the Born Early campaign widely on your website/forum and help solve the puzzle of premature birth.

As mother of two, Nora Devai knows all too well how quickly babies grow out of their clothes and shoes, and how easily they tire of their toys, movies and books. Through her experiences as a mother and her innovative thought process, Ms Devai has come up with the perfect solution: a baby exchange website.
Don’t be fooled by the name – the website doesn’t trade babies – but it does allow parents to exchange their not so use baby items. Following the worldwide trend of swapping and recycling - and in the wake of increased environmental consciousness - this unique concept is set to revolutionise the way Australian parents shop.
Baby Exchange is an indirect swapping website, so parents can choose any item they want as long as it is the same value as their items are worth. “Selling my baby items especially clothing, was just not worth the time and effort. When my daughter was born I thought wouldn’t it be great if there was a place to swap my son’s clothes for clothing for her. A place where parents could also exchange their unused or outgrown items for the next size up” Ms Devai said.
This site is the first of it’s kind in Australia. It is a fun, easy and cost effective way to minimise the expense and wastage involved in raising children. Ms Devai said as long as parents have something to swap they will never need to spend money on baby and children’s’ items again.
10% of all proceeds from Baby Exchange will be donated to Kids with Cancer Foundation.
